Local geometry of the rough-smooth interface in the two-periodic Aztec diamond

چکیده

Random tilings of the two-periodic Aztec diamond contain three macroscopic regions: frozen, where are deterministic; rough, correlations between dominoes decay polynomially; smooth, exponentially. In a previous paper, authors found that certain averaging height function differences at rough-smooth interface converged to extended Airy kernel point process. this we augment local geometrical picture by introducing well-defined lattice paths which closely related level lines function. We show, after suitable centering and rescaling, process from these converge provided natural parameter associated is small enough.

Covering the Aztec Diamond

There are 107 non-isomorphic coverings of the Aztec diamond of order 5 by the 25 one-sided tetrasticks. In [6] Donald Knuth describes how to attack certain types of puzzles by computer. One type of puzzle he tried to solve is the covering of patterns by tetrasticks. Tetrasticks — or more general polysticks — were introduced by Brian Barwell [1]: Pieces made from a fixed number of line segments ...

Local Statistics for Random Domino Tilings of the Aztec Diamond

We prove an asymptotic formula for the probability that, if one chooses a domino tiling of a large Aztec diamond according to the uniform distribution on such tilings, the tiling will contain a domino covering a given pair of adjacent lattice squares. This formula quantiies the eeect of the dia-mond's boundary conditions on the behavior of typical tilings; in addition, it yields a new proof of ...
